What  Co-op Membership Means

What It Means to Be a Co-op Member

Being a member of a co-op means having a voice in how your housing is managed, but it also comes with the responsibility to help keep the community well-run
and welcoming for everyone.

As a co-op member, you’ll purchase shares, pay monthly housing charges, and take part in members’ meetings. Participation is key—you may serve on committees,
help with maintenance, organize social events, or even join the board.
Co-operatives are built on open membership, participation, independence, community, and most importantly—cooperation!
Your involvement ensures a thriving, supportive living environment for all.

Members of a co-op are expected to:

  • Pay their housing charges fully and on time.

  • Attend general meetings to stay informed and
      make knowledgeable decisions.

  • Maintain their own unit and associated space.

  • Treat the community with respect.

  • Contribute at least 2 hours per month per unit
    in volunteer activities. *

*Member participation often exceeds these minimum requirements to ensure the Co-op meets its goals.
